Recommendation Engine

EBS can supply recommendation-led editorial products and applications, driven by our sophisticated Recommendation Engine.

The paradox at the heart of the modern TV landscape is that, as channels and content proliferate, the viewer is swamped by choice; the net result being the common complaint that ‘there is nothing on TV for me.’ TV viewers are noticeably choice-rich, but time and patience-poor.

The EBS Recommendation Engine solves this problem by providing a sieve for the TV viewer to sift their personal TV gold from the general TV detritus.

Our Recommendations Engine is created by using tagged metadata from a database built up over 10 years of creating TV guides (digiguide.tv), and our experience of TV viewers’ consumption habits. Our proprietary algorithms then suggest results which help the viewer quickly decide which programme or film they should watch, or notify them as to what is available. These suggestions are based on tagged metadata keywords like ‘genre’, ‘actor’s name’ or ‘director’ or created by mapping suggestions of what like-minded viewers have watched or recommend.

Viewers then get that crucial help through the often-confounding decision-making process which improves their engagement with the particular content, and also improves their experience of TV viewing as a whole.
